THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY
A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER
by Graham Rihn
There has to be a better way. We all want something better. A better way to store files; a better way to run payroll; a better way to find a ride home. These moments of wanting something better are what inspire, or fulfill, big ideas and transformational products. My desire for “a better way” involves recycling.
How can it be so hard to actually recycle? Contamination of mixed materials plagues the industry and require a very expensive and time consuming process to reach recycled form. By the time a piece of paper is fully seperated, the process has cost more than the material is worth, thus providing very little incentive to recycle in the first place. The results : recycling rates are dropping and investment and innovation in the space is at an all-time low.
There has to be a better way, right?
After spending five years in the industry, I developed an understanding of how
the waste and recycling systems operated first-hand. It dawned on me that
the “better way” comes down to logistics. By cutting costs and steps from the process of transporting materials to the right place in the right form, the materials can be recycled at a cost that is actually lower than their value.
I started RoadRunner to build a company solely focused on making waste and recycling massively more efficient. My vision for “a better way” starts and ends with logistics. We are heavily investing our time and resources in reinventing the process of recycling materials from the source (the business) to where they are sold, repurposed, or recycled.
By innovating around the concept of hauling, RoadRunner uses more cost-effective, data-driven logistics to lower customer expense, create revenue with recyclables, and achieve client sustainability goals all at the same time.
We hope you will join us on this mission to do better for everyone, and give us the opportunity to show you how RoadRunner can do better for your business today.
Sincerely,
Graham
